My name is Amman Advaita, and I have been practicing yoga since 2008, and the first time I taught Yoga was in 2011.
At age 14, my first vivid encounter with the path was at Rumtek Monastery in Sikkim, watching my father take Buddhist lay vows. I remember yearning to do the same.
In 2010, at age 17, after exploring qigong, reiki, tarot reading, and crystal healing, I undertook my first yoga teacher certification – Yoga Shastri with Dr. Hansraj Yadav at Bhavans Yoga Bharati. After 10 months of training and teaching under his guidance, I met a senior teacher of the Vipassana tradition. I completed my first Vipassana retreat in the Goenka tradition, and then traveled to UK to pursue a bachelor’s degree in media.

In 2015, I returned to India and began working in media and film, including directing a feature film—Kosha. In 2019, I discovered Sri Vidya—an esoteric tantric practice rooted in Kashmiri Shaivism and decoded by Sri Amritananda and his disciple, my teacher, Sri Karunamaya. I completed multiple levels of this powerful ritualistic practice.
In 2021, I moved to Goa to train with Dr. Omprakash Gaur. Under his guidance, I deepened my knowledge and skill in Hatha and Iyengar Yoga, eventually assisting him and then teaching at his yoga studio and in teacher training courses.

That same year, I began diving deeper into buddhist practice with Tushita Monastery.
I continued studying online with Phakchok Rinpoche at Samye and with Mingyur Rinpoche at Tergar.
In 2024, I progressed significantly in my studies and took refuge with Mingyur Rinpoche, receiving the name Sangye Dorje. My current sadhana practice is the extraordinary preliminaries (ngondro) of the Nyingma tradition, and Yantra Yoga in the lineage of Chögyal Namkhai Norbu.
Today, I teach yoga asana, pranayama, meditation, mantra, and philosophy. I guide workshops, courses, and trainings, and mentor students and teachers in developing a consistent, balanced self-practice—one that avoids extremes and supports a grounded, practical way of living.
